The finals of the Brendan Redmond and Martin Bergin U10 tournaments were held
in Páirc Charman on Sunday last and after 2 great games,
Adamstown overcame St. Martin's (3-4 to 0-2) and Taghmon Camross
beat Crossabeg (1-3 to 0-4) in the shield final.
The
games were played in near perfect conditions on an excellent playing
surface and a big crowd turned out to see both matches. Players
and mentors of all 4 teams are to be congratulated on their behaviour
and sportsmanship and it is hoped that they will all be back next
year to participate again in the tournaments that this year catered
for 16 U10 teams and over 350 players. Trophys and medals were
presented after the games to the players by John Redmond, father
of Brendan and by Martin Bergin, son of the late Martin 'Forky'
Bergin after whom both tournaments are named.
