Seniors avenge Senior final defeat

The Senior team fashioned their first league win of the season when they overcame a weakened Starlights fifteen on Saturday night last on a 2-11 to 2-9 scoreline. We were also short a number of key players due to injuries and unavailability, but produced some good football in the first half to open a 3 point lead at the interval. However, on the resumption we took our foot off the pedal somewhat and struggled at times but managed to hold on to collect both points.

This was our last game before our championship opener against Bannow Ballymitty who have been scoring freely in recent weeks and will be a formidable opposition in New Ross. We will be missing some players from last year's County final, notably Niall Shiell, Barry Goff and Mikey Hanrahan, but the return of Darren Browne and Jason Murphy will be of some consolation to the selectors. Nothing, however, except a fully committed performance will suffice in this opening round game if we want to build on last year's progress.
