Seniors dumped out of championship
In a season that never hit the heights of
2004, our final game against St. Anne's in the quarter-final
of the WFC Senior football championship ended in ignominy
when we were decisively beaten on a 2-13 to 0-2 scoreline.
Indeed the margin of defeat would have been much worse were
it not for the wasteful shooting of our opponents who shot
an amazing 17 wides. To compound this defeat was the injury
to inter county star Redmond Barry, who suffered a broken
jaw in a most unsavoury incident just before half-time.
Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery and look
forward to seeing him back in action as soon as possible.
For this group of players it's back to the drawing board
after a very poor display. Last year's county final
appearance showed that the talent is there, but consistency
is a major problem. Hopefully, we can put this year behind
us and build on our recent underage success to bounce back
again.
