Congratulations to the Under-14s who reached the county
final in this grade for the first time since 2002 with a 2-9
to 2-4 win over Monageer-Boolavogue in Gorey on Wednesday
last.
The lads trailed by 1-4 to 1-3 at half-time and the sides
were deadlocked ten minutes into the second period, but they
put in a storming finish and scored the last five points
without reply.
A feature of the game was the fact that all of the winning
tally was scored from open play, while the back line
excelled throughout. Well done to Alan Keeling, Jim Crowley
and Pádraig Gannon who have been rewarded for all of their
hard work with the team.
The Division 2 final is in Wexford Park on Saturday next
against Clongeen who surprised Féile champions Naomh Éanna
in the other semi-final.
Team: Shane Keeling; Dean McGrath, Dean Wilson, Jack
Robinson; Darragh Keeling (1-0), Gavin O'Connor, Colm
Heffernan; Ryan Walsh, Ben O¹Brien (0-2); Dean Walsh (1-1),
Eoin McCormack, John Bridges; John Gannon (0-2), Liam Barry,
Seán Kearney (0-4). Sub. - Bill Cullen for Barry, inj.
