U21's crash out in 2004 County semi-final
Disappointment was etched on the faces of
all the players and supporters at the end of this 2004
County semi-final when an understrength U21 team went
down by 3 points to Craanford. A squad that was already
limited numerically was further reduced prior to the game
by injuries to Mikey Hanrahan and Fran Cleary and the
unavailability of Conor Farrell. The fact that a number
of other players didn't bother even turning up did not
help matters either but, the 15 players that played can
hold their heads high and realise that but for some unfortunate
misses and at times, misplaced passes, they could have
won this game and be looking forward to a County final
appearance.
With only 2 of this team overage for this
years U21 championship, there is great hope that this
team can clinch a championship it so richly deserves.
Team: James Roice; Adam Doyle, Brendan Mulligan, John
Bergin; Terry Lynch, Kevin Gore, David Gannon; Emmet Keeling,
Jim Berry; Donnacha Doyle, Liam Goff, Ray Stafford; Andy
Moore, Bobby Clancy, Philly Cullen.
