Juniors crash out of championship
Defeat to Cloughbawn in the Junior championship quarter-final,
a team we had well beaten in the first round of the championship,
was a bitter pill to swallow at St. Patrick's Park on
Sunday last when we went down by 2 points on a 3-9 to
3-7 scoreline. The dissappointment was exascerbated by
the fact that a number of players did not turn up on the
day leaving the team to line out considerably understrength.
That being said, nobody could fault the effort displayed
by all 17 players on a rain sodden pitch in deplorable
conditions and was in stark contrast to those who could
not even be bothered to notify officials that they would
not be there. A full strength team would have won this
game and could probably have looked forward to a County
final appearance at least but that is not now to be the
case.
